Peary is a one-of-a-kind regular-size Signature Series amplifier defined by an incredible transition between deep walnut heartwood, creamy sapwood, and naturally spalted figure. The contrast is especially dramatic across the sweeping horn, where the wood changes from rich chocolate brown to warm gold with dark, wandering spalting lines tracing through the lighter areas.
The interior of the horn may be Peary's most striking feature. A broad section of dark heartwood flows across one side before giving way to highly figured golden sapwood, creating an almost landscape-like pattern. Areas of curl and chatoyance add another dimension, causing portions of the grain to shimmer and change as the piece is viewed from different angles.
That character continues onto the exterior and base, where additional spalting creates thin black boundary lines and intricate patterns through the lighter wood. Rather than appearing uniform from every direction, Peary seems to reveal an entirely different section of the tree each time it's turned.
Hand-turned from a single piece of salvaged black walnut, Peary captures several of the characteristics we look for in our Signature Series all in one piece—dramatic color contrast, natural spalting, unusual figure, and grain patterns that could never be intentionally recreated.
